Grandma’s Natural Recipes

Finally, after many years of suffering, I found an old recipe of my grandmothers that does the trick and its easy to make. You can even get the whole family involved!

Grandma’s Eczema Zapper Salve

8 ounces Olive Oil
2 to 3 ounces beeswax (any kind will do. I use the type that comes in beads).

Herbs:
4 tablespoons lavender leaves or flowers
2 tablespoons comfrey
2 tablespoons chamomile
3 tablespoons plantain

Essential Oils:
Tea Tree Oil
Lavender Oil
Peppermint Oil

Directions:
Infuse the Olive oil with the herbs. This can be done in 2 ways:

If you have the time and strong sunlight, put olive oil and herbs into a clear glass jar. Put jar in the sunlight (away from little hands) and let the sun infuse the medicinal properties of the herbsApproximately 3 days.

Need this quick? Stove top can also work:
On medium temperature, put oil and herbs into a pan. Bring to a very mild boil and turn down immediately to low. Cook for on low for about 1 1/2 hours.

After infusion takes place, strain the oil and put into a class or ceramic bowl. Add to essential oils one at a time.  Stir. Making sure the oil is still hot, pour into glass jars (canning jars work fine).
Note: If infused in the sun, you will have to heat it up enough for the beeswax to melt into the oil. Heat in short, 20 second, spurts.

Add beeswax to each jar starting with 3 tablespoons each. If it hardens and is still too soft, heat oil again (microwave is fine but in short increments (i.e. 20 seconds) so it melts into its original form and add another tablespoon. You can do this as many times as needed. The first time is usually the hardest to determine how much wax. After that, its memorized (or add it to your notes)!

Use on area’s on the body affected by eczema, rashes, dry patches and cracked hands or feet. Very greasy so use at bedtime.
