I have always loved fruit and especially oranges. I was raised that the best source of vitamin C is in an orange. Little did we know, Kiwi ranks right up there with oranges. Both of them offer close to the recommended daily requirements in one piece!
The kiwifruit is a little fruit holding great surprise...........
This sweet fruit is:
70 Milligrams in one kiwi (Women need 75 Milligrams per day)
Full of antioxidants
Contains soluble fiber. What does that mean? Your digestion works a little quicker so it keeps your bowel movements more regular. If you take a lot of vitamins and supplements, you will now find your less “pressured” when having a bowel movement!
Decreases the risk of blood clots as well as reducing the triglycerides in your blood which helps to improve cardio health. Does the same thing as aspirin but without all the side effects
Can transform iron into a state that is better absorbed by the intestines
Great for collagen production (hello….I could use less wrinkles!)
Only 45 calories in one Kiwi (Lower calories and it taste great? I’m game!)
With the growing interest in kiwifruit, other species are now becoming more widely available. These include the hardy kiwi and the silvervine kiwi, two smooth-skinned varieties that are the size of cherries. With oranges and kiwi’s being in season at opposite times. With oranges and kiwi’s being in season at opposite times, you will have a rich source of vitamin C all year round. If you have picky eaters, there are plenty of alternatives to keep them full of vitamin C.
